Radlett school pupils enjoy chance to
shine - TWO pupils from Fairfield Junior,
Mackenzie Lemon and Sahil Shah, were given their chance to
shine at Lord's when they were mascots for the Middlesex v
Essex LV Cricket County Championship clash. They shared the
spotlight for the official coin toss by the captains before
watching the action and visiting the MCC's Museum and Spirit of

House sales down in 2008
- The latest Land Registry figures added to this site
show that there has been a significant fall in houses sold in
Radlett in the first four months of 2008. Compared with 2007,
sales appear to be down by about 60%. (24 June 08)
Radlett's Talking Newspaper
- Volunteers who have read local stories to the blind for
three decades say they are “desperate” to reach more people cut
off from the news. Every week, the Radlett, Elstree,
Borehamwood and Shenley Talking Newspaper team records and
sends out 60 cassette tapes of news and features to blind or

Knifeman strikes in Radlett
- A man threatened staff with a knife during an attempted
robbery at a bookies in Radlett. The incident happened at the
branch of Coral bookmakers in Watling Street at around 10am on
Monday. Anyone with any information should contact Det Con

Sun shines on Radlett Festival
- Beautiful weather made for another successful Radlett
festival this afternoon as hundreds of families soaked up the
sun. Ron Worthy, chairman of Aldenham Parish Council, said the
"fabulous" weather had helped provide a good attendance. He
said: "It is a village fair, all the local societies are here
..... they raise publicity and that's what it is all about."

Green Belt safe as firm goes into
red - Green Belt campaigners are celebrating
after UK Land Investments International (UKLI) which sold plots
of land between Radlett and Borehamwood to Middle East
investors went into administration. The 200 sq.m plots of green
belt were on sale for about £15,000 and more than 1000 had been
sold. Council planning officer Chris Lewcock said
administrators had not yet approached the authority about the
company, but added: "There is no current and very little future
likelihood of the land being released for residential purposes.
The land forms part of an important green buffer between
Borehamwood and Radlett and is a habitat for wildlife."

Famous five for Radlett
Cricket Club - ALL five teams picked up wins
on Saturday for the first time since the club entered a
fifth XI in the Herts League in 2002. The 1st XI crushed
Reading following victory over Slough the previous week
and this weekend make the long trek to Banbury where they
haven't seen victory in 6 visits. Veteran Mike Dexter
(pictured) returned to form for the 5ths with 90*.

Radlett house burglary -
Jewellery was stolen from a house in the Warren between 2.55pm
and 3.10pm on Monday afternoon. It is thought three men entered
the empty property and ransacked upstairs bedrooms. The alarm
was activated and the men escaped through neighbouring gardens.

Shenley house fire - Fire
crews battled a house blaze in Charwood Close, Shenley - two
residents escaped unhurt. The accidental fire is thought to
have been started by a electrical transformer over-heating. The
utility room was badly smoke damaged. Free home fire safety

New Bottle Banks in Radlett -
Recycling banks throughout the borough are having a makeover.
The banks in Radlett can be found in the Newberries Car Park.
Besides glass, you can also get rid of cans, paper and liquid

Body found in Shenley Hill - A man has
been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in
Radlett yesterday morning. Police officers attended a site in

Motorbike Track in Radlett - There are
proposals to develop the Picnic Field (an area beyond the
Cricket and Rugby grounds) to set up a supervised motorcycle
scheme for young people in the area is now moving ahead, thanks
to a £130,000 grant from Hertfordshire County Council Youth
Opportunities Fund. £30,000 had already been raised from a
variety of organisations and charities, added together that
makes a grand total of £160,000. It is hoped that the scheme
will be up and running in time for this Summer.

Aldenham PC Annual Meeting - 8
April - The annual meeting will be held on Tuesday 8
April 2008 at 8 pm at the Radlett Centre all welcome.
Refreshments available. Special guest speaker will be Mr Bill
Price from STRIFE who will speak about the proposed rail
freight development at Park Street and the effect it will have

Shenley Brownies need a Leader - The
Shenley Brownie group is on the hunt for two new Brown Owl
leaders - otherwise it could face closure. The group's previous
leader, Gill Tarrant, retired at Easter, with no volunteers
